SS-24 Shaving Machine

Description

The Newman Shavings Mill is a horizontal feed machine engineered to convert wood waste (i.e. slabs, edgings, cut-off blocks, trimmings, etc.) into quality agricultural bedding shavings of uniform size and thickness. (Note: The length of the wood waste, moisture content, and species will affect the Size, Quantity, and Quality of shavings as well as the percentage of fines produced.)

The machine come complete with a 24″ (610 mm) diameter cutterhead with 16-knife rows, carbide knives for ease of maintenance, OSHA guards, variable feed speed, and premium efficiency totally enclosed fan cooled cutterhead motor.

The Newman shavings machine will simultaneously process wood of varying width, thickness, and length. It is capable of producing shavings from material of up to 5″ (127 mm) thick and 13″ (330 mm) wide.

The shavings machine will process wood slabs with bark on or off, scrap edgings off fall blocks, slabs, scrap lumber, etc.

A vibratory conveyor normally feeds the shavings machine. Properly fed material is converted to shavings in a single pass with the shavings being discharged from the outfeed end. The shavings may be removed by a pneumatic conveying system or simply blown from the machine.

Cutterhead:

• 24″ diameter x 14″ width, 16 knife rows x 7 knives per row
• Total knives in cutterhead = 112

Feed System:

• Two 5″ diameter feed rolls with positive feed tooth design allow infinitely variable speed throughout 20 fpm to 60 fpm range
• Powered by 3 HP motor with A.C. variable frequency controller

Cutterhead Power:

• 100 HP premium efficiency motor TEFC frame

Feed Opening:

• 5″ high x 13-1/2″ wide
• The length of material does not restrict feed
• Material of multiple thicknesses may be fed at the same time due to uniform bottom feed

Production:

• 1 to 2 tons per hour (900 to 1800 kg/hour)
• 7 to 15 cubic yards per hour (5 to 11 m3/hour)
